She is an actress, artist and musician but it isn?t just her talents that make Cady McClain an amazing woman it is Cady herself. I know this because I had the pleasure of interview her the other day. Find out what Cady and I chatted about which includes some fabulous photos and a must see video.
Many of you know her as Dixie from All My Children or Rosanna from As The World Turns but did you know that Cady McClain is also a very talented singer? Well she is and she just released a brand new CD that is a live recording from her performance at the legendary Club Passim in Harvard Square.
Q. What can you tell me about the CD CLUB PASSIM?
A. It was recorded live at Club Passim, hence the name of the CD back in 2008. It was a special gig because it is a memorable folk club. It now has a music school but remains the hub of the folk music scene. When you perform there they record it for you. After it was done I thought that was one of the best gigs I ever played and I should put it out. I don?t get to perform live a lot except in the NYC area which doesn?t leave my fans out side of that area much of chance to see me. Q. Where do you get the inspiration for your songs?
A. All over the place. A lot of it comes from long walks. I will be walking around and then just start humming. It sort of just comes to you. It is kind of like an apple that falls from the tree. You decide if you want to pick it up or not that is how music is too.
Q. How did you get involved in music?
A. There was always music in my house, a piano, harp, clarinets, drums all sorts of instruments were around. My mom played music folk music and she just loved it. I started playing guitar at 15 and then in my early 20?s I began writing music. While I was working on AMC I wanted to have my own voice and when you are an actor you speaking in the writers voice. My music was a way for me to have my own voice
Q. Any upcoming live performances our readers show know about?
A. Not right now because the CD is so special I don?t want to take anything away from it. I will be recording a new album with new music and once that is done I will start performing again. I hope to start recording soon.
Q. You have many accomplishments as an artist, author and musician, how is it that you got involved in the entertainment world?
A. I was compelled by poverty at a young age which kind of propelled me to work. I started doing some acting as child in order to make some money. I spent so many years acting, which I loved but I felt the need to explore what I might be other than what I had been doing as a job. The arts became a great way to explore who I might be. Each part of the arts whether it be poetry, or music, or art is a completely different experience. I discovered I have a passion for all forms of the arts. I love them all and my passion for each depends on what I need that day. They are each truly an outlet for me.
Q. You are very well known for your roles on AMC and ATWT any thoughts about returning to daytime television?
A. If it was a fun gig yes. When it is fun it is such an enjoyable and entertaining job to have. It would have to be the right fit for me.
Q. Is there a dream project whether it be acting, or with you music or as an artist that you would like to work on?
A. I would love to do a play in England, to be at Stratford would be amazing. I also think it would great if someone redid the Twilight Zone serious. I was just a fan of that if a remake of that ever came about I would want to be involved with it in some way. I have done a little bit of producing and directing and wouldn?t be opposed to doing more of that.
Q. Can you talk about any upcoming projects you have going on?
A. I have a big new project and it is a book. It is a book of intentional fiction if you will. Some parts of it are very true and then there are some parts that had to be changed to protect certain people and things. It is really a story about growing up and well growing up too fast which is why I have titled it Murdering My Youth. That is kind of my focus now and I am very excited about it.
I was more than thrilled to have the opportunity to interview Cady McClain. I am a huge fan of hers and she was a complete joy to talk to. I immediately went and downloaded her new CD. It is truly amazing and I highly recommend you checking it out for yourself.

The dancer turned rapper says Britney, with whom he has two children, is slowly getting her life back on track.
'Oh, man, it's totally turning around,' said Kevin.
'It works out that [the kids] get to see her. There's structure over there, there's structure at my house.
'We're trying to keep the same type of schedule. It doesn't have to be completely perfect, but the foundation is there.'

Betty White: 2011 SAG Awards Winner
Certainly one of the most experienced actresses in attendance, Betty White was on-hand for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 30).
The "Golden Girls" star looked to be having a fabulous time as she mingled with fellow attendees with a big smile on her face at the Shrine Exposition Center venue.
During the show, Miss White was honored for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series while beating out Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara, Tina Fey and Edie Falco.
White was also up for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series along with her "Hot In Cleveland" co-stars, though they ended up losing out to "Modern Family".
Quite the busy lady, Betty was among the slated presenters - joining fellow trophy passer-outers including Eva Longroia, Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman.

In her latest music video Sober the star gives narcissism a try as she makes love to herself.
The sultry scenes see the So What singer don fishnet tights and a black bra as she gets acquainted with a double of herself.
The video was created using camera trickery and digital mastery in order to present a convincing interaction between the two Pinks.
Despite the title track, the singer hardly stays tee total during the video.
At times she is seen guzzling down alcohol and partying, and in one scene viewers will see Pink jostle with her clone's bra straps.
She also appears in an angelic white wig at various intervals, complete with long white nails.
The song is second track taken from Pink's fifth studio album.
On Sunday night the star was out in force and performed at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Making another stop on the awards show circuit, Natalie Portman was on-hand for the 63rd Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards in Hollywood, California on Saturday evening (January 29).
The expecting actress turned up dressed in black as she took to the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland while joining up alongside "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky.
Miss Portman was in attendance to support Aronofsky - who is competing against David Fincher, Tom Hooper, Christopher Nolan and David O. Russell for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2010.
Talking about the nominees, Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford said, "2011 marks the 75th anniversary of the DGA, making the celebration of this year's five nominees especially meaningful. Earlier today we saw photos of Britney Spears and her beau Jason Trawick partying at a nightclub in Miami, FL last night. At the time, I wasn?t entirely sure why Britwick made their way to Miami in the first place. Pink reader Jadedkitten gave me the head?s up that Britney, Jason and Larry Rudolph (Britney?s longtime manager) made their way to Miami to attend the wedding of Britney?s BFF assistant Brett Miller to fianc�e Frank Lionetti!
Brett?s wedding reception was held at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church in Miami, FL (where these photos were taken). My guess is that we don?t see any pics of Britney because she was most likely with Brett ? possibly as a member of her wedding party! This is all very exciting. I couldn?t be happier for Brett. Let?s send all of our love and congrats to her today.
UPDATE: It turns out that Britney WAS a bridesmaid in Brett?s wedding (TMZ reports that Britney was Maid of Honor) ? and she had to wear this kinda fugly dress:

On Super Bowl Sunday we will be inundated with a plethora of video commercials that will attempt to sell us various things ? and among those commercials will be one from Best Buy that will star young popstar Justin Bieber with old rockstar Ozzy Osbourne. Today we get a first look of when Bieber met Osbourne on the set of their new Best Buy commercial.
JUST one month ago, OZZY OSBOURNE had never even heard of JUSTIN BIEBER. But he?s fully aware of the teen pop titan now. The unlikely duo have teamed up to shoot a TV ad to air during the Super Bowl -?and it appears they got on like a house on fire. Justin Tweeted: ?Guess the word is out. me and OZZY did a pretty funny commercial for @BestBuy for the SUPER BOWL ? got to make some fun of myself. pretty funny. u gotta be able to laugh at yourself or life isnt fun.? Dressed from head to toe in futuristic space outfits, Ozzy, Justin and the heavy metal icon?s wife SHARON will all make appearances in the commercial for US electronics retailer Best Buy. In December, a bewildered Ozzy asked a TV chat show host: ?Who the fuck is Justin Bieber?? when quizzed about his contemporary music tastes. LOL! It?s exactly this kind of spectacle that makes for a great Super Bowl ad. To be honest, I could really care less about Justin Bieber or Ozzy Osbourne on their own ? but teamed up in this new commercial, yeah, I?ll admit I?m interested in seeing how the whole thing turns out.
Oh and as a side-note ? I had THE most horrifying dream last night. For some inexplicable reason, I found myself at a Justin Bieber concert. I was sitting off to the side with Bieber?s mother (the woman who claims that both she and her son are ?gifts from God?) and she was telling me how amazing her son is while the Biebs was performing on stage. There was a room full of adults with their tiny children and the little kids kept trying to crawl up onto the stage to get close to Bieber. Then, suddenly, Bieber was in my face and his mother was trying to introduce us ? I was so trying to get away that I fell back off my chair onto the floor ? and then I woke up. Ugh. Scary right?

We may have just found the winner of American Idol 2011! Lauren Alaina, who is just 15 years old, blew everyone away at her audition. For more details on the Hollywood bound contestant, with photos and the audition video, keep reading below.
Nashville is where the show found it?s biggest winner ever, Carrie Underwood. As soon as the teenager started singing Faith Hill?s ?Like We Never Loved at All? the judges started to think they may have found this year?s star.
Before she started singing we got a little back story on the high school student. She is inspired by her cousin who survived cancer and encouraged her to try out. I can?t believe she never thought of it before, because the next winner may be Lauren Alaina. She was the last contestant of the American Idol 2011 Nashville auditions and this is one instance where the best was saved for last. After she received three yes?s she brought her family in to meet the judges and to sing a duet with Steven Tyler.
It was awesome and I am still amazed. It is interesting though that the first year 15 year olds are allowed to compete, they find one who may be able to go all the way. She is also from the same city where 22 year old (at the time) Carrie Underwood first amazed the judges. This has some people wondering if the whole thing was staged or planned. Either way the girl has a big voice and the judges had this to say about it:
Randy said, ?Best we?ve seen today ? I?m blown away.? Steven Tyler said (about her trying not to tear up) ?I think you should cry, because you?re going to make 40 million people cry tears of joy, baby.?

BFFs Nicole Richie and Khloe Kardashian were spotted at the Staples Center in downtown LA last night rooting for the LA Lakers (and Khloe?s husband Lamar Odom, in particular) and it looked like they were having the best time ever. Nicole tweeted a photo from the game last night but the pair were snapped professionally from afar as well.
