Prince Donates $1.5 Million To NYC Schools

Prince Donates $1.5 Million To NYC Schools

What A Prince

After completing a short residency of concert performances on his Welcome 2 America Tour, Prince has decided to donate $1.5 million to 3 arts-oriented NYC schools. The Harlem Children?s Zone, Uptown Dance Academy and the American Ballet Theatre are the lucky organizations that will benefit from Prince?s generosity.

Although Prince is in the middle of his hugely successful ?Welcome 2 America? tour, he took some time to honor his promise to give back to education. His Purple Highness announced that he would be donating $1.5 million to three very deserving three local New York City schools. Prince opened up a $1 million line of credit to the Harlem Children?s Zone, and a $250,000 line of credit to the Uptown Dance Academy and American Ballet Theatre. According to a press release, he set up these amazing lines of credit so he can remain in involved with the school?s needs. ?A function of our love for the next generation is instilling in them our own hard-fought knowledge. We can?t wait to see ? or only hope for ? the future of those coming after us,? Prince said. ?We must actively take responsibility for ensuring their success.? Kudos to Prince for giving back.

I love that Prince is giving back some of the money he has made from his NYC concerts to some very deserving kids. It is very easy for celebs of his stature to take take take but it takes a special person to give give give so generously. Prince rulz. Now, if he would just bring his Welcome 2 America Tour to LA, I?d love him even more. Perhaps he can give some of that hard-earned money to schools over here as well?
