Have fans of the Jersey Shore and the media at large begun to grow weary of Snooki?s persona as seen on the show? Well, it seems that even Nicole Polizzi herself has.
Once Sammi took a brief hiatus from the shore house, the entertainment value slowed to a painful crawl. Let?s be honest, all this season really had going for it was the new girl and the insane drunken fights between Sammi and Ron.
As I sat through forty-four minutes of mayhem every week for the last month or so, I actually found myself cringing at some of Snooki?s incoherent babble. And now that she has a partner in crime in Deena, it has gotten a tad unbearable.
Could it be that my sympathy for the girl who was slugged by a muscular douche on national TV finally worn off? Perhaps. More interestingly, the girl behind the reality caricature of herself is even tired of it.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, she admitted that the producers seem to favor airing clips of her drunk, sweaty, and falling all over the place?and like many reality stars, she swears that isn?t the real her.
Nonetheless, one thing some of the cast mates have realized is that, for better or worse, they have to brand themselves. Mike gets it, Pauly D gets it, and clearly, so does Snooki.
Though it?s painful to accept that many view the party girl living it up in Seaside as her genuine self, she understands what it has done for her life. One of the most insightful things she said recently is that she doesn?t think she could get a normal job after being on the show. Instead, she hopes to ride the reality TV wave with a possible spin-off.
So am I tired of Snooki? Yes, but I have plenty of patience for Nicole Pollizi.
