There have been some amazing musical groups and individuals throughout history, and some of them will be known for their famous last performances. Whether they were followed by death, a breakup or other issues, we will always remember their final showing.
If you had to pick five great career finales in music who would you choose? Well I?ll tell you who I think had the most memorable, counting down to my number one with videos of the shows!
5. Jimi Hendrix ? One of the most infamous music stars ended his career in August of 1970, performing in the United Kingdom. He was both cheered and booed at this point in his career. September 17th he was found passed out after choking on his own vomit, and died the next day in the hospital.
4. Selena?s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo -At the Astrodome in 1995 one of my favorites performed her last show. She sure went out with style, arriving on a white horse drawn carriage. In March of that year she was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar at age 23.
3. Elvis Presley ?Can?t Help Falling In Love? ? On June 26, 1977 the King sang this as his last song at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. He was obviously not in the prime of his health, but he was a legend and he died on August 16th that year.
2. The Beatles Rooftop Concert ? The last ever group performance by the legendary Liverpool band happened in 1970 in front of a small groups of friends, family and employees. The show was cut short by the police responding to noise complaints. Unfortunately that was the last public appearance as they broke up later that year.
1. Michael Jackson ?This is It? Tour ? Though he was never able to perform this concert, we know how amazing it would have been thanks to the documentary. You can see his musical genius, his passion and amazing dance/singing skills. I wish he could of done the tour, but as we all know he passed away on June 25, 2009, just a few weeks before the scheduled opening night. Check out his last rehearsal ever here.
