Survivor: Redemption Island ? Russell Hantz Gone, Jeff Probst Inks Deal for 2 More Seasons

Tonight on Survivor: Redemption Island, episode 4, we see Russell Hantz, everyone?s favorite player to hate, finally get the boot. But perhaps the bigger news is that Jeff Probst signed a deal to do two more seasons of Survivor.

Episode 4 begins on Night 8 at Redemption Island. Russell joins Matt, having just been voted off of Zapatera Tribe. Russell tells Matt how he was told Francesca beat Matt during the duel. He adds that his tribe deliberately threw the challenge just to get rid of him. Russell vows revenge!

Day 9 at Ometepe Tribe begins too early as Phillip wakes everyone while doing camp chores. His short ?panties? cause a stir, showing far more than the rest care to see. At Zapatera, Ralph tells his allies that he has the idol. Some worry that Russell may return to The Game.

Day 10 and it?s time for the Redemption Island duel. Phillip and Kristina witness for Ometepe while Ralph and Sarita do so for Zapatera. The duel consists of arranging blocks of wood on a multi-level platform, such that they will fall like dominoes and release a ball which will break a tile. Mouse-Trap! Ropes attached to the platform will cause it to wiggle should Matt or Russell accidentally make contact.

The duel begins evenly but Matt builds a lead and tries his blocks first. He?s a bit short. Russell takes a stab at it while Matt is resetting, but he also falls short. Matt?s second try succeeds! Russell is out of The Game for good! The loss causes Russell to cry. Jeff Probst praises him for his strong game-play. Russell recovers and launches into an angry rant, letting the Ometepe witnesses know inside info about Zapatera, like who?s in charge. Ralph toys with Russell, telling him he found the idol in the first 15 seconds of The Game, then denies it. Phillip believes Ralph has it, though. Russell hopes Ometepe finishes Zapatera and crushes them. He tells Uncle Cameraman that he?s done and will never play Survivor again. What a shame!

Back at Ometepe, the gang decides to have a ?beach day? during the duel. Rob uses this to get the rest away from camp so he can hunt for the idol. He tells the others he is constipated and is ?ready to go?. Off by himself, Boston Rob finds his first hidden immunity idol. He decides not to tell anybody about it.

The witnesses return to their tribes. Julie is happy when Ralph and Sarita tell Zapatera that Russell is out for good. On the way back to Ometepe, Phillip tells Kristina he?ll withhold some info and use it to bargain with Rob for protecting her. After telling the whole tribe about Russell losing the duel, Phillip takes a walk with Rob and Grant and barters for Kristina. Rob reluctantly agrees and Phillip relays details that Russell spilled about the inner structure of Zapatera. After that, Grant and Rob decide that Phillip needs to go. LOL!

Day 11 and it?s time for an Immunity Challenge. Both tribes bring their box of Craftsman tools. The challenge involves using tools at various stations, ultimately to saw planks to complete a ramp to a platform. Ralph beats Rob early on and Zapatera builds on the lead. Especially when Phillip and Grant have trouble sawing their planks. Zapatera wins immunity, plus a Sears BBQ grill, along with food.

The winners feast on beef, sausages, bell peppers and toasted bread. At Ometepe, Phillip annoys everyone with another of his morale speeches. Krsitina pretends like she may have the idol, which makes Rob paranoid. The rest want Phillip gone, but Rob convinces them to split the vote and send Kristina home. Boston Rob is worried that the rest of his alliance may decide to boot Phillip anyway.

At Tribal Council, Kristina tells Jeff she?s worried about being voted off, again. She hopes the tribe gives her a second chance. Natalie says she likes Kristina and is willing to grant her wish. Grant agrees, too. But Rob trashes Kristina, who then throws Phillip under the bus. Kristina calls him a disruptive element in camp. Phillip defends himself, going into a long story about his highly successful life and his awesome ?Shepard Stamp? . I guess Phillip believes he has divine power or something. It?s time to vote! We see Kristina and Phillip trade votes. Jeff counts the ballots and it?s tied 3-3. But Boston Rob?s alliance holds firm and Kristina is sent packing.

Next week on Survivor: Redemption Island, Ometepe may have shifting alliances as Rob considers keeping Phillip around since everybody hates him. Over at Zapatera, Stephanie and Krista seek to revenge Russell Hantz being booted by stirring up trouble.
